Mom Review: Desitin Extra Strength

So today, my oldest daughter thought it would be a good idea to use Desitin (yes the diaper rash cream) as hair gel on her younger sister. #poorLivia

Mikah followed the directions impeccably, "Applying a thick layer" ...to Livia's forehead and hair. ignoring the obvious fact that Desitin is meant for her bottom.

The directions continue, saying to "rub thoroughly, forming a thick layer" And I must admit, it did provide a thick layer that was inpenatrable

not only to water... but baby shampoo and dish soap!

The remainder of the directions stated that the ointment would

"provide a strong lasting barrier" Which I couldn't agree with more. As Livia's pretty, dirty blonde hair has now turned a grayish white color (Even after 2 baths and a trip to the splashpad) It also has a similar texture to that of a cabbage patch doll... It will mold and hold in any position you place it.

Bad mom moment? I'd say so. But in my defense, this incident happened in less than 5 minutes while I was changing Gemma's diaper. (NEVER ignore a toddler's silence!) And Mikah was so very proud when she told me, "Come look at Livia's lotion! She's so cute!"

I stared at my year a half year old, literally ghost-like with gray hair... And as mad and frustrated as I was, I saw Mikah's sheepish smile and had to hide mine.

No mom is perfect.

At least that's what I have to tell myself most days.

And these will definitely be one of those moments I remember...

especially every time I use diaper rash cream.
